The industrial development of Western European society would not have been possible without the wealth, resources, and hard labor extracted through colonial exploitation. Our so-called prosperity was literally built on the backs of enslaved people. These themes are deeply important to me and often resurface in my installations and drawings. Through my work, I explore the connections between materials—how they are produced and sourced—and the human body, trying to highlight the impact of these histories on our present.
